We are here to serve the people of Franklin County to alleviate problems dealing with our natural resources. Our natural resources are Soil, Water, Air, Plants, and Animals(SWAPA). We try to improve the quality and/or protection of these natural resources through installation of BMPs(Best Management Practices) and environmental awareness. Our clients consist of landowners, farmers, county and municipal governments, land consultants, home owners, students, and educators.

 

Smithfield Foods and NC Attorney General help County in Closing Lagoons

The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District would like to recognize Smithfield Foods/NC Attorney General Office for supporting the Districts efforts in closing abandoned animal waste lagoons in the County. We their help the District has successfully closed one lagoon and two others are in process of being closed. There are many processes that go into writing and implementing a certified lagoon closure plan. To find out more about this process please contact our office.  Closure Pictures
